Blog Posts

As we enter the last week of 2010, my first full year of blogging; I thought it would be interesting to look back and see what posts generated the most interest (visits) and comments within the community.  By understanding which posts resonated the most, I can focus my future blogging efforts on encouraging additional visits and discussion with the ultimate goal of creating a more valuable overall experience for the community.

A deeper dive into the analytics and structure of the posts (length, authority, timeliness) helps me to better understand why some posts performed better than other.

I won’t bore you with those details, but much of the experiments I’ve conducted over the past 12 months should result in a superior experience moving forward.  Overall, I’m very pleased with posts like, Is social recruiting an ‘active’ or ‘passive’ talent acquisition strategy?, as not only did it drive traffic, but it also encouraged the engaging conversation that I think is so essential to the community and important to the long-term success of social media.

Toward the tail end of the year, I was named one of the Top 11 HR & Recruitment Bloggers to watch in 2011 by the fine folks at Monster.  As a rookie blogger, I consider myself the quintessential social media and social recruiting student.  So, it is quite an honor to be recognized along with some amazing leaders who I learn from on a daily basis.

I’m looking forward to a great year in 2011. If you have any suggestions for how I can improve blog posts, blogging, or whatever else is on your mind, please let me know in the comments.
